A quick guide to using Mausam.channel and understanding how the service works.
How do I change the city?
Use the CITIES selector at the top of the page and choose any active city. Each city also has its own permanent page.
How do I find weather near me?
Select NEAR ME. Mausam first asks your browser for location permission. If that is unavailable, it can use an approximate IP-based location to find the nearest supported Mausam city. The approximate lookup is handled by an external IP geolocation service. Your precise coordinates are not stored by Mausam for this feature.
What if my city is not listed?
Send us a city request from the Contact page. We manually review new locations and add cities when we have a suitable cinematic image and weather coverage.
How often is the weather updated?
Mausam refreshes active-city weather on its scheduled server-side cycle. Visitors normally receive the latest cached result rather than making a weather-provider request themselves.
Why can Mausam show a different temperature from my phone?
Weather services can use different observation points, update times, rounding and data models. Mausam displays the latest successfully cached data from its configured weather provider.
Where does the weather data come from?
Weather data is supplied through OpenWeather. The provider response is normalized and cached by Mausam before it is displayed.
What are the weather effects?
Rain, fog, cloud, snow, storm and other atmospheric effects are visual overlays applied to the administrator-selected Day/Night city photograph. They do not change the underlying weather numbers.
What are Official Weather Alerts?
When official alert information is supplied through the weather provider, Mausam displays the active alert for the relevant city. Alerts are not artificially generated by the site.
Can I sponsor a city?
Yes. Mausam offers city sponsorship opportunities. Contact us for availability, campaign information and sponsorship options.
